72 Silicon Iron Powder Main Application Fields

1. Deoxidizer in Steelmaking

Function: During the steelmaking process, 72 silicon iron powder combines with oxygen in the molten steel to form SiO₂ slag, thereby improving the purity of the molten steel.

Advantage: Compared with aluminum deoxidation, silicon iron deoxidation can reduce Al₂O₃ inclusions in steel and enhance the toughness of the steel.

2. Casting Industry

Forming agent: Added to cast iron to promote graphitization and improve the mechanical properties of the castings (such as tensile strength).

Spheroidal cast iron: When used in combination with magnesium alloys, it enhances the spheroidization effect.

3. Production of metallic magnesium

Reduction agent: In the pyrometallurgical magnesium production process, 72 silicon iron powder reacts with dolomite to reduce magnesium vapor.
